Building on our previous level 1-37 guide, this advanced segment focuses on optimizing your journey through the mid-to-late game. The transition from level 37 onward requires strategic zone selection and efficient quest management to minimize downtime and maximize progression speed.

Many players struggle with the 37-60 bracket due to increased travel distances and more complex quest requirements. This guide provides the framework to navigate these challenges effectively while building your character’s power for endgame content.

Your level 37 journey begins with accessing new quest batches across three primary zones. Stranglethorn Vale offers concentrated quest hubs at Booty Bay, Nesingwary’s Expedition, and Rebel Camp, providing excellent experience density if routed properly.

– Stranglethorn Vale [Booty Bay, Nesingwary’s Expedition and Rebel Camp] – Focus on circuit routes to minimize backtracking
– Arathi Mountains [Refuge Pointe and Faldir’s Cove] – Limited quests but valuable for specific class quests
– Badlands [Various camps around the zone] – Dense quest concentration requiring thorough exploration
– Desolace [37] – Alternative zone with less competition for mobs
– Elite Area: Stromgarde – Requires group coordination, excellent for reputation gains
– Elite Area: Mosh’ogg Mound – Good for small groups, watch patrol patterns
– Instance: Scarlet Monastery – Ideal for weapon upgrades and class-specific gear
– Instance: Uldaman – Complex instance, best attempted at level 40+
– Instance: Razorfen Downs – Excellent caster gear, manageable with balanced group
– Happy Loot: Tiny Black Whelpling (Badlands) – Rare pet drop from black dragonkin
– Grind Area [37]: Lashtail Raptors (Stranglethorn Vale) – Good for leather and vendor loot
– Grind Area [37]: Water Elementals (Stranglethorn Vale) – Elemental water drops, moderate experience
– Grind Area [37]: Theramore Coast (Dustwallow Marsh) – Turtle Scales & Leathers – Excellent for leatherworkers
– Grind Area [39]: The spider cave north of Brackenwall (Swamp of Sorrows) – Silk cloth farming spot
– Grind Area [39]: Rock Elementals (Badlands) – Stone elements for engineering/alchemy
– Grind Area [39]: Elder Crag Coyotes (Badlands) – Light leather source
– Grind Area [41]: Scalding Whelps (Badlands) – Excellent for gold farming with scale drops

– Grind Area [41]: Ziata’jai Ruins (Venture Co. Stuff, Stranglethorn Vale) – Engineering materials
– Grind Area [43]: Naga Explorers (Stranglethorn Vale) – Shell and pearl drops for jewelcrafting

Strategic zone rotation is crucial during this phase. Begin with Stranglethorn Vale quests, then transition to Badlands while your grinding efficiency improves. By levels 42-43, you should complete Stranglethorn’s final quests while finishing Badlands and Arathi Highlands simultaneously.

Level 43-46: This bracket introduces two new major zones with excellent quest density and your first significant dungeon experience.
– Feralas [Feathermoon Stronghold] – Night elf zone with dense quest concentration
– Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port] – Desert zone with goblin-themed quests
– Instance: Zul’Farrak – Troll-themed dungeon with valuable quest rewards
– Grind Area [43]: Wastewander Bandits (Tanaris) – Excellent for silk cloth and humanoid loot
– Grind Area [44]: Isle of Dread (Feralas – Inside Cave; South of Feathermoon Stronghold) – Unique mob types with good drops
– Grind Area [45]: Feral Scar Vale (Feralas) – High density spawns for efficient grinding

Level 46-50: The transition to endgame preparation begins with Hinterlands quest chains and multiple dungeon options.
– Tanaris [Gadgetzan, Steamwheedle Port] – Return for higher level quests
– The Hinterlands [Aerie Peak] – Wildhammer dwarf quest hub with excellent rewards
– Instance: Zul’Farrak – Revisit for remaining quests and gear upgrades
– Instance: Maraudon [49] – Large instance, best attempted with guided groups
– Instance: Temple of Atal’Hakkar [50] – Sunken Temple with complex boss mechanics
– Grind Area [47]: Undead in Western Ashzara (Azshara) – Runecloth farming spot
– Grind Area [47]: Dunemaul Compound (Tanaris) – Ogre-themed area with good vendor loot
– Grind Area [47]: Elementals/Golems around The Cauldron + N of it (Searing Gorge) – Elemental Leatherworking Supplies – Valuable for crafters

At this progression point, you’ll have accumulated Hinterlands quests including Wildkin Feather collection from Rutheran Village, Gammerita photography quest, Violet Trajan acquisition, and Cortello’s Riddle completion. These quest chains provide substantial experience and prepare you for the level 50+ content.

Level 50-55: This critical phase bridges mid-game content with true endgame preparation across five major zones.
– Searing Gorge [Kalaran Windblade] – Dwarf-themed quests with valuable rewards
– Blasted Lands [Blood Elf camp] – Demon-themed quests with excellent experience yield
– Un’Goro Crater [Marshal’s Refuge] – Dinosaur zone with the highest quest concentration per square yard
– Felwood [Emerald Sanctuary] – Corrupted forest with satyr and demon quests
– Burning Steppes [Morgan’s Vigil] – Dragonkin and orc quests with valuable drops
– Instance: Temple of Atal’Hakkar – Revisit for remaining quests and class-specific gear

– Grind Area [51]: Ruins of Eldarath (Azshara) – High elf ruins with valuable drops
– Grind Area [52]: Dreadmaul Rock (Firegut Ogres – Burning Steppes) – Ogre-themed area with cloth drops
– Grind Area [52]: Legash Encampment, Thalassian Base Camp, Ursolan (Azshara) – Multiple camp types for variety
– Grind Area [52]: Jaedenar (Felwood) – Demon-infested area with fel cloth potential
– Grind Area [52]: Sorrow Hill (Western Plaguelands) – Undead area with runecloth farming
– Grind Area [54]: Temple of Arkkoran (Azshara) – Naga-themed area with shell and pearl drops
– Grind Area [55]: Jadefire Run, Felpaw Village (Felwood) – High density spawns for efficient experience gain

Blasted Lands features exceptionally efficient quest stacking where multiple objectives overlap geographically. Each quest turn-in provides approximately 4700 experience points, with the added benefit of Draenethyst Sphere drops from Kumi’sha the Collector mobs. Meanwhile, Un’Goro Crater stands as the zone with the highest quest density across all available areas, making it essential for rapid progression.

Level 55-60: The final stretch to level cap requires mastering complex zones and instance mechanics while optimizing your time investment.
– Winterspring [Everlook, Starfall Village] – Frost-themed zone with excellent quest rewards
– Western Plaguelands [Chillwind Point] – Undead-infested zone with valuable quest chains
– Eastern Plaguelands [Light’s Hope Chapel] – High-level undead content with elite areas
– Instance: Blackrock Depths – Massive instance requiring multiple sessions to complete
– Instance: Blackrock Spire [60] – Challenging instance with excellent pre-raid gear
– Instance: Stratholme [60] – Undead-themed instance with valuable loot tables
– Instance: Scholomance [60] – Necromancer-themed instance with class-specific gear

– Grind Area [56]: Winterfall Village (Winterspring) – Furbolg camp with vendor loot potential
– Grind Area [57]: Blackrock Stronghold (Burning Steppes) [NOTE] – Orc-themed area with excellent loot tables
– Grind Area [57]: Ice Thistle Hills (Wintespring) – Rugged Leathers – Furbolg camp with leatherworking materials

Important considerations: Blackrock Stronghold represents arguably the premier grinding location for rogues, but requires familiarity with roaming patrol patterns. Initial learning attempts will likely result in several deaths as you master the mob mechanics. Additionally, this area may receive armor buffs on certain mob types, though two of the four orc varieties that spawn are caster-class enemies regardless. Ice Thistle Hills provides a relatively peaceful grinding environment yielding substantial Rugged Leather quantities, though it doesn’t rank as the most experience-efficient location available.

Different classes benefit from tailored approaches to the 37-60 leveling journey. Rogues excel in areas with predictable patrol patterns like Blackrock Stronghold, where stealth abilities can be maximized. Casters perform exceptionally well in zones with line-of-sight opportunities and limited melee pressure.

Melee classes should prioritize zones with terrain advantages that allow for controlled pulls and minimal adds. Understanding your class’s strengths and limitations will significantly impact your leveling speed during these critical mid-game stages.
